Pintastic Tuesday Popular Pins

It’s Tuesday which means time for a Pintastic Tuesday! Pinterest just rolled out a new format this week and with that came a nifty analytics tool for websites that have been verified and approved by the Pinterest peeps. I’ve always been able to see which pins you all are pinning from Sand & Sisal but now I have a ton of data about which pins are trending. It’s a great way for me to see which types of projects you like. If you aren’t following along with me on Pinterest, I’d love to have you join me! Pin-o-holics welcome!

I thought I’d share a few of the most popular pins from the last 7 days. You can click on either the titles or the pictures itself to be taken to the projects.

Strawberry Crepes

Crepes were always a special breakfast in my family when I was a child. I’ve eaten them for as long as I can remember. My mom taught my sisters and I how to make them and I need to thank her for that because once you have learned how to make crepes, your family will be requesting them each weekend! I’ve experimented with a few recipes over the years, and I have found this one I’m sharing today, my favorite.

Needing Counsel on Consoles

This has been a crazy week. I’ve bee re-decorating my home for Christmas. Yes, I said Christmas. I know it’s March and the daffodils are in full bloom here, but my I’m ready to pour some hot chocolate and sing a few carols! No, I’m totally kidding. I had a project due this week for a company that required it in a Christmas setting. I now get the chore of taking it all down again and dragging it up to the attic. So to reward my self, I’m going to venture out to my favorite thrift stores for a little shopping.

I’m in search of console tables. I actually am in need of two and hoping to find a bargain or one I could makeover. These tables below really caught my eye. Each is so unique and makes a big design statement.

Have you ever seen a rope covered table before? I sure haven’t . It looks amazing doesn’t it? What texture!

Sand & Sisal’s Reader Feature

I love opening up an email from loyal Sand & Sisal readers who have applied my tutorials and created something beautiful in their home. I received a sweet note from Camille Soler of Puerto Rico. She was inspired by the water closet area of my master bath and used my Painting Stripes Made Easy tutorial to transform her bathroom.

Didn’t she do an amazing job? What a transformation! I’m crushing over that gorgeous glass sink and driftwood accent mirror too!

If you want to learn how to easily paint stripes too then click on the picture below.

A St. Patrick’s Day Centerpiece

Kiss me I’m Irish! Well, maybe just a wee bit Irish. The exact amount, I’m not sure of. The Irish comes from my dad’s side. This time of year is always a bit rough for my family and I. Last week marked the anniversary of my father’s death to melanoma. He was a prestigious physician and adored by thousands. I like to remember all the stories he'd tell us about growing up in Detroit. Remember Eminem’s movie “8 Mile”? Well, my dad grew up on 7 Mile. From what he said, 7 was worse than 8….yikes! What makes me so proud is how he and his brothers and sister all decided not to let their circumstances dictate their future. They strove to be the best and achieved it.

St. Patrick's Day Centerpiece - Sand & Sisal

One story he told me was what his grandmother would yell at the kids each St. Patrick’s Day. “Don’t you dare wear green! You are to wear orange! We are Orangemen!” Which I guess was a protestant fraternal organization founded in Ireland in the late 1700’s. Ummmm, ok??? Of course as a kid I had never even heard of Orangemen, nor did I really care. I certainly wasn’t about to wear orange and get pinched for not wearing green! Kids keep it simple and uncomplicated. They toss politics and religious legalism to the wind.

Centerpiece…. oh yes… we’re getting to that.
