Roxy Girl Room Reveal

Roxy room reveal

My daughter is a Roxy Girl.
Anything Roxy, beachy, surfy, she adores.
So when I found this great duvet ensemble by Roxy for her room,
I knew I’d hit a homerun in the “cool mom” factor.
Now to coordinate the room…..
This Roxy hibiscus pillow & furry striped pillow were my inspiration
for colors, pattern, and texture.

hibiscus pillow

It’s a green choice, low odor, zero VOC, and anti –microbial!
My little Roxy girl chose 6945 Belize & 6918 Humorous Green (yes, I was laughing when she showed me the swatch).
But, after all, this was going to be a teenager’s room (I’ve learned to pick my battles).
With painter’s tape, I taped off a 10 inch horizontal stripe ALL the way around the room.
Then I painted above and below the stripe, leaving the white stripe alone.

For the hibiscus mural I simply took a transparency sheet and laid it on top of a few hibiscus flowers on the bedspread.
I traced the hibiscus pattern with a dry erase marker and then pulled out my overhead projector.

I love my projector!

With the projector, I could blow up the size of the flowers or shrink them.
Once I found a size and position I liked, I just traced the pattern with a pencil onto the wall.
Easy-Peasy!

Then I took 2 plastic cups, one with the blue paint and one with the green paint and then added WHITE paint.
This simply lightened the existing color, giving the flowers a more subtle effect.

Every teen needs a place to display all their pics and such,
so a glammed up corkboard was in order!

glass bead corkboard

I took those simple, cheap, glass beads and hot glued them to the metal frame.
Instant texture and bling!

Adding an unsuspecting hibiscus peaking out from a door or window adds a fun feeling to the room without getting overly busy.

My Roxy girl is all about drama and a MEGA-HUGE hibiscus was her special request.
Our littlest one loves to hang out in his big sis’ room and refused to budge for this pic.
Can you blame him? Who wouldn’t want to chill in such a cool room!?

Mega Hibiscus

And what teen room isn’t complete with out Abs…uh, I mean Jacob. (but this mama likes her men sparkley)

Jacob

The bed was mine as a child, and will receive white paint job in the spring
and the bench is from Pottery Barn Kids,
the saucer chair is from Target,
and the white desk is from Ikea.
(and yes, the kids all surf with that board)
