This project was just too easy!
The inspiration for the M1, M2, M3, M4 came from the movie the Pacifier when my muscle man,
Vin Diesel is trying desperately to gain control of the 5 kids he’s babysitting,
and uses code names Red 1, Red 2, Red 3, Red 4, Red Baby.
If abbreviations worked for Vin, then maybe for me?
Ok, I confess,
writing a letter and a number is a whole lot easier than writing their names!
My best friend Cindy found these card board coasters in the dollar bin at Michaels
and made these labels for her own storage and suggested I make some for my baskets.
Yay for Cindy’s brilliant idea!!!
I took out my chalk board spray paint and sprayed both sides of the coasters.
Then I painted the kids’ initial and birth order on each tag with white acrylic paint.
I’m sure a chalk board paint pen would have been easier,
but they were pricey so I stuck with the paint I already had on hand.
Next, I took a hole punch and punched a hole.
You have to use your muscles!
Then I threaded some hemp or sisal string through the hole and tied a knot.
Next, I simply pushed the other end of the string through the basket and tied another knot.
Voila! Easy, sturdy labels.
Target is a great place to find a variety of inexpensive baskets and these are from their sea grass basket collection.
To learn how to refinish the table you see above read Thrift Store Solutions to my Staircase Tsunami.

Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLove chalkboard tags! Brilliant to use the coasters as tags!!! I use mine all the time. Just an unsolicited piece of advice. Chalkboard spray paint is much more expensive than plain old black spray paint (I buy it for $1.89 at Big Lots). If you're not planning on using the surface as a real chalkboard, plain old black paint works great too!
ReplyDeletewhere did you get your baskets?
ReplyDeleteA: I purchase my seagrass baskets from Target. Love Target!
ReplyDeleteLove your tags. Thanks for telling us how to...
ReplyDeleteVery fun storage space! I found a great lined laundry basket at target that we use to store blankets in.
