I promised I’d give you directions how to make pumpkin topiaries and here they are! These adorable topiaries can be used indoors for a tablescape display or outside, set in planters, adorning your front porch. To keep this an affordable project, I picked up carvable, craft pumpkins at Michaels for 50% off and then I had a 20% coupon on top of the discount. These topiaries are quite simple to put together and you will be able to use them for multiple years!
How to Make a Pumpkin Topiary
You will need the following items to make one topiary:
3 craft pumpkins (orange, black, white- 2 large, one small)
box cutter
wired ribbon (3 colors)
crystal & berry garland
hot glue
large paint stick
Let’s make some topiaries!
Step 1) You need to cut a hole in the bottom of your middle and top pumpkin to accommodate the stem from the pumpkin below. Use a box cutter to cut a hole. (For this pumpkin I attempted to use a round saw attachment for my drill to make the hole. It made a nice hole, but was a bit scary to control and scraped up my pumpkin. Just use a box cutter… way easier.)
Step 2) To save ribbon, cut short strips out of your ribbon and make a loops secured with hot glue. Hot glue the loops to the top of the pumpkin.
Step 3) Hot glue the 3 pumpkins together.
Step 4) Cut some sprigs off of a jeweled berry garland and hot glue them around the ribbon.
Step 5) Add a ring of garland around the base pumpkin.
Step 6) Cut a small rectangle at the bottom of the base pumpkin and insert the large paint stick into it and then insert the topiary into your planter.
