DIY Glitter Glamour

Time to get your holiday DIY glitter glamour on! For some of us, decorating with glitter might conjure up memories of elementary school crafts. You remember the art projects that you proudly pulled out of your book bag and a shower of gold and silver would rain down upon you mom’s newly vacuumed floor?  She was still cleaning up that glitter through spring time! Right? Well glitter has grown up and if you love the sparkle but not the mess then these holiday glitter décor crafts are for you. We are playing with Krylon Glitter Blast today!

My dining room is decked out in silver and gold this season. I wanted to add a few elegant touches of sparkle without going over the top gaudy. There is a fine line when dealing with glitter. Glitter Blast works just like spray paint, but sprays a  layer of micro-fine glitter suspended in a clear coat base. It comes in 16 different colors, but a few of my favorites are Diamond Dust, Golden Glow, and Silver Flash.

I made 3 glittered pear wreaths for the room. I took 3 grapevine wreaths and gave each one a light spray of Golden Glow Glitter Blast. It dries very quickly which is nice.

Then I tucked some gold and silver eucalyptus sprigs from the dollar store into the vines. If yours don’t stay in tight then you can add a dab of hot glue before tucking it in.

I painted some dollar store faux green pears with silver and gold craft paint and then gave each one a few coats in either Golden Glow or Silver Flash.

I added a blob of hot glue to the base of each pear and added to the wreath. The camera has a hard time picking up all the sparkle of the glitter, but trust me, it’s glittered up!

Each wreath is suspended by pretty music note ribbon which was also hot glued on.

I used those clip type- paper clips to hold the ribbon (there’s a specific name for them but I’m drawing a blank!). Then I hooked the clip on to a 3M Command hook. I used this same method to hang my JOY Wreath, so head over to that post and you’ll see more details if you don’t understand how to hang them. Then to disguise the clip I attached big glittered snowflake ornaments with a tiny dot of hot glue.

Aren’t they pretty? I used the same ribbon as my Jingle Bell Napkin Rings which you see on the table in the picture below.

To bling up my centerpiece, I gave last year’s Bay Leaf Trees a few coats of Diamond Dust Glitter Blast. (There’s a sneak peek of my new painting and made over dining room! Post is coming SOON!)

I absolutely love the Diamond Dust! See all the color in that sparkle? It is a really cool combination of white and iridescence that gives the tree a subtle and frosty snow flocked look.
