Want to personalize your porch and gain some nice curb appeal?
Then let me show you how to monogram an urn in 7 simple steps!
You don’t need a special stencil cutter machine to make a monogram, but I must admit, owning one would be a wonderful tool. I’ve tried a few different way to make home made stencils and this method works very well for nice clean lines.
1) Purchase full sheet REMOVABLE labels. I could only find these at office supply stores.
2) On MS Word, or any other word processing program, choose a font style and size and print the letter onto a removable label sheet. I chose Times New Roman in 460 font size.
3) Place your printed letter sheet onto cardboard to protect your surface area. With an exact-o knife, carefully cut out the letter. (And I mean BE CAREFUL! Exact-o knives are razor blade sharp! I can’t tell you how many sliced fingers I had all throughout design school!)
4) Smooth your label over the area that you want stenciled. Make sure to work out all the air bubbles right around the edges of the letter, otherwise the paint will bleed under.
5) Cover any exposed areas of your urn with waxed paper, trash bags, or whatever you have on hand.
Now you’re ready to spray paint!
6) Very lightly spray paint until covered. Then after 2 minutes slowly remove the label. I choose to remove it before the paint is dry just incase any paint bleeds under an edge. If it does, quickly dip a cotton swab in paint thinner or nail polish remover and rub the affected area to remove the paint.
{{Note: If your urn is a porous surface, make sure to spray with primer first, allow to dry, then spray with paint.}}
7) Fill your personalized monogramed urn with beautiful flowers and enjoy your creativity!

DeleteYes, I bought them in black. They came in two colors, taupe and black. I purchased them last year though, so I'm not sure if they still carry them.
