Coastal Holiday Wreath

A Coastal Holiday Wreath is ideal for an east coast, west coast, or gulf coast home (and for those of you who desire to live near the coast)! Pencil starfish, burlap, and an inspirational word make this wreath a natural, stunning, and simple wreath you can make!

Coastal Holiday Wreath

Hmmm, I’m thinking Christmas card! Isn’t it pretty? Normally my wreaths are bright and glitzy but this year I’m craving calm colors and simplistic décor. Would you like to learn how easy this Coastal Holiday Wreath is to make? Let’s get right to the tutorial before I grab my flip flops and head to the beach!

Coastal Holiday Wreath

Here is what is needed to make a Coastal Holiday Wreath:

  • A fresh evergreen or artificial wreath
  • Burlap garland or ribbon
  • 2 white twig/coral picks
  • MDF letters
  • Floral wire (green 24 gage, silver 26 gage)
  • 3 white finger starfish (2 large & 1 small)
  • 3 small cream, white, or silver ball ornaments
  • hot glue & heirloom white spray paint (optional)

A majority of these items can be purchased at Michaels Crafts store. Start with a fresh wreath. Make a bow out of burlap garland. Wrap each bow loop with silver wire and make sure bow is secure. Wrap bow base with green floral wire and fasten to the wreath. Then simply insert one twig/coral spray pick into the wreath, on both sides of the bow.

Spray your letters with Heirloom White spray paint. Heirloom white is a softer, creamier color. After they are dry, position and glue them together with a glue gun. Twist green floral wire around the letters in 2 places and secure to the wreath. Also thread the wire through the ornaments and secure them to the wreath.

Now’s the fun part! Hot glue the starfish to the wreath. If parts of the starfish touch the letters, then hot glue where they make contact.

Hang the wreath with a wreath hanger or hang with the burlap garland, folded in half.

  1. That's beautiful! I love that big puffy burlap bow. I also really LOVE how big and full your wreath is. I'm not a fan of skimpy, thin evergreen wreaths. I like 'em full and fat...lol. :)

  3. I love this! I'm doing a coastal Christmas this year, but I've had a hard time finding big shells and starfish. I definitely should have started shopping over the summer! Oh well, now I know for next year. :)

  6. I LOVE IT! I am also doing a Coastal Christmas this year. We live on a little island, so why not? I have the same burlap ribbon just waiting for my tree and a whole pile of sand dollars. I will have to keep your wreath in mind while making my own.
