Speckled & Gilded Easter Eggs

I rarely go “all out” when decorating for Easter like some might. Maybe because I’m not a fan of trying to blend pale and hot pink, purple, and yellow Easter egg colors into my décor. I do love robin’s egg blue though and silver and gold! So I grabbed some eggs that I had and transformed them into Speckled & Gilded Easter Eggs for a beautiful Easter centerpiece.

My latest TJMaxx find was this beautiful blue, gray, and gold tablecloth. This was the inspiration for the egg colors.

I had a few paper mache eggs and pastel plastic eggs I had purchased at Michaels.

They all received 2 coats of Plaid Martha Stewart Crafts Paint. These Martha Stewart paints are pretty amazing. They are multi-surface paints (paper, wood, plastic, glass, etc.)! I chose three metallic paints in Sterling, Gold, and Yellow Gold, and two satin paints in Surf and Chestnut Brown.

Once all the eggs were painted they were speckled with the Chestnut Brown. The easiest way to speckle something is to dip an old toothbrush into paint and then run your finger across the bristles to create the a speckled effect. My son was not too pleased to see his Diego toothbrush coated in paint!

The eggs were gathered together, nestled in Spanish moss, and perched on top of mercury glass pillars and holders.

I love the blend of blue with the two metallic gold shades and silver! It’s pretty, soft and shiny all at once! They work beautifully together!
